Florida

This section of the website is designed to give some background information to Florida, particularly the climate and the attractions on offer. There are also many links to other sources of information available on the Internet.

Situated in the Southeastern corner of the United States and consisting mainly of a peninsula about 400 miles long, Florida is the "Sunshine State". Florida covers about 60,000 sq. miles and has a population of approximately 15 million. It is mainly flat country with an abundance of pine forests and citrus trees. The Everglades, one of the largest wetland areas in the United States, cover a substantial part of Southern Florida.

Situated almost at the geographical centre of the state of Florida, Orlando is the tourist capital of the world, with an amazing selection of amusement parks and other attractions. Disney World is the best known and there is nowhere to match its sheer enchantment. For children of all ages, 9 months to 99 years - it’s MAGIC.

To the west of Orlando is the Gulf Coast, where Clearwater and the beautiful St Petersburg are located. And before you reach the coast, there is Tampa with its shops, restaurants and attractions. Alternatively, heading east brings you to the beautiful beaches of Daytona and Cocoa Beach. Further down to the south are Miami and the Florida Keys.
